I used it as above rubbing firmly for a minute or so and afterwards used the same cloth washed completely just with the water. The detergent + water completely removed the oil left on the trackpad. Flipped it over (facing downwards) so water could drain. Wiped it again every few hours. Flipped it over (so keys were facing up) and put it on top of a warm/hot computer surface for the night (my Mac Mini gets pretty warm).
