The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who played on about 40 No. 1 singles and roughly 150 Top 10 tunes, was 90. The Associated Press reported that he died of natural causes at his home in California. WebIn 1944 his family moved to California and in 1946 at the age of 16, he enlisted in the Army. After boot-camp he was sent to Korea. By chance he was discovered by an officer who needed a drummer for his band. Hal Blaine became a personal driver and drummer for Uncle Sam.
